e Establish and Vision: Our Journey Since 1972

Bassein Urdu Education Society, Vasai, was established in 1972 under the leadership of our Founder President, the late Ali Abdul Rehman Shaikh, who was dedicated to the cause of education. The society was officially registered in 1976 as F-40 in Palghar District, Maharashtra, on 25/05/1976.

In this group photo, Founder President Late Shaikh Ali Sanam, Founder Vice President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh, Founder General Secretary Vali Mohammed Ansari, Founder Treasurer Khalilur Rehman Shaikh, and other members are present.

In June 1982, Awami Urdu High School started on the first floor of Jama Masjid, Musaji Gally, Vasai Gaon (currently Huzaifa Urdu High School). It was inaugurated by the then M.L.A., Mrs. Tarabai Vartak, who also facilitated the school’s permission.

M.L.A. Tarabai Vartak addressed the parents of Awami Urdu School students, congratulating the President and members of the Bassein Urdu Education Society for their efforts. The event was held at Sukudtrit Hall, Parnaka, Vasai Gaon, and the photographs were taken by President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh (Business Photography).

The farewell function for the first batch of SSC students from Awami Urdu High School was held in 1985. During the event, President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh delivered a heartfelt farewell speech, accompanied by General Secretary Vali Mohammed Ansari, Principal Ansar Sir, Wasim Sir, Intezar Sir, and the students.

On 15/09/1985, President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh gave a letter to Mr. Dilip Kumar. Subsequently, President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh received a call letter from Dilip Kumar regarding the purchase of land for the school building. The President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh then identified a 22-guntha plot in Hathi Mohalla, with the owner demanding ₹5 lakhs for the land.

Upon meeting Dilip Kumar again, the President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh informed him that the land was conveniently located near the students‘ residences. Dilip Kumar responded positively and advised him to finalize the agreement with the Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh .

To secure the purchase, a donation of ₹50,000 was made by Dilip Kumar in Vasai Gaon, and an agreement was finalized with the landowner. Subsequently, the President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh and some society members visited Dilip Kumar’s house to present the agreement. He congratulated them all and, after further discussions, issued a letter appointing them as members to help raise funds for the land purchase and school construction.

The society expressed deep gratitude for his generous support of this noble educational cause.

After this agreement was made, the Society President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh began efforts to collect donations. During this period, the President of the Nissa Hussain Nensey Charitable Trust, Mumbai, Mr. Hussain Bhai Nensey, made a call, expressing his interest in donating to the society. In response, the President invited him to Vasai to visit the school and the proposed land.

One day, Mr. Hussain Bhai Nensey visited Vasai, inspected the school premises, and toured the identified land. After reviewing the site, he agreed to donate funds for purchasing the land and constructing a new school building.

After the agreement between The Bassein Urdu Education Society and The Nissa Hussain Nensey Charitable Trust, Respected Chairman Hussainbhai Nensey generously donated ₹10 lakhs to the society. Out of this amount, ₹4.5 lakhs was paid to the school landowner, while ₹3 lakhs were used to vacate a stable (60-cow tabela) occupying the land.

Upon completing the legal process, the school land (Survey No. 1040) was officially registered in the society’s name in 1994. Additionally, Hussainbhai Nensey contributed ₹5 lakhs for the construction of the school’s boundary.

In 1996, the Thane Collector approved the Non-Agricultural (N.A.) status for the 22-guntha school land. Following this, the boundary construction work was successfully completed.

Subsequently, President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh appointed Architect Mr. J.P. Mehta to design the G+3 school building and oversee the RCC construction work. By 2000, the architect prepared the building’s blueprints and compiled all relevant documents. These were then submitted, along with the application letter, to the CIDCO authority for approval.

In 1994, President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh was honored with the prestigious “GUNIJAN” Award for his remarkable efforts in promoting and implementing the Urdu language in education. Under his leadership, the Bassein Urdu Education Society played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding Urdu-medium educational institutions, ensuring students had access to quality education in their mother tongue.

His dedication to preserving and strengthening the Urdu language was evident through various initiatives, including the establishment of schools, organizing literary and cultural programs, and advocating for Urdu education in Vasai and surrounding areas. In recognition of his unwavering commitment and contributions, the award was bestowed upon him as a token of appreciation for his tireless work in uplifting Urdu education and culture.

In October 2000, CIDCO authorities granted a Commencement Certificate (C.C.) for the construction of the G+3 school building. Following this approval, construction work officially began on January 26, 2001.

The foundation-laying ceremony was conducted by former MLA Ridhwanbhai Harries and President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh, along with General Secretary Vali Mohammed Ansari. Several distinguished guests attended the event, including Vasai Nagar Palika President Mr. Ajay Khokhani, Mannanbhai, Dr. Nasir Contractor, Iqbal Parekh, and Dustgir Shaikh.

In 2001, during the construction of the Huzaifa High School building, respected donor Hussainbhai Nensey, Saifubhai Dalal, Azizbhai, and contractor Mr. Iqbal Parekh visited the site, offering their support and encouragement to complete the school building as soon as possible.

Alhamdulillah! After the completion of the Huzaifa School building and the installation of all necessary educational infrastructure, respected donors Mr. & Mrs. Hussainbhai Nensey visited the school to assess the progress. They were highly pleased with the development and, with great satisfaction, asked President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh if any further assistance was needed.

The President humbly replied, “No, everything is now in place,” and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to them for their generous support in establishing this noble educational institution for the students of Vasai and its surrounding areas.

In 2006, a grand celebration was held at Huzaifa Urdu High School, Vasai Gaon, to mark the 100th anniversary of Zilla Parishad Urdu School, Vasai Gaon. The event witnessed the participation of thousands of students from various Urdu-medium schools across Vasai Taluka.

The Bassein Urdu Education Society organized a series of motivational programs, including an Urdu cultural event, a Mushayara (poetry session), and student speeches highlighting the significance of the Urdu language. As part of the celebrations, prizes were distributed to outstanding students by MLA Vasai Loknate Hitenddraji Thakur, Nagar Sevak Haji Jamil Ahmed Shaikh, and other distinguished dignitaries.

In recognition of its remarkable contributions to the promotion of Urdu education, the Bassein Urdu Education Society was honored with a trophy, presented by Gosia Masjid Chairman and Nagar Sevak Haji Jamil Ahmed Shaikh. The event was attended by Society President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh, General Secretary Vali Mohammed Ansari, and Treasurer Rehmatullah Shaikh, along with other esteemed guests.

Alhamdulillah! Since 1972, the Bassein Urdu Education Society has been dedicated to providing quality education in Vasai Gaon. In 2008, the society achieved another significant milestone by establishing a Science and Commerce Junior College at the Huzaifa Campus.

The inauguration ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting event led by Society President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh, in the presence of General Secretary Vali Mohammed Ansari, Treasurer Rehmatullah Shaikh, society members, Principal Mehjabeen, and special guest Mr. Gafoor Sir, a lecturer from T.B. College.

This new educational initiative further strengthened the society’s commitment to academic excellence and student development.

After the opening of the junior college in the 2008-09 academic year, the Science and Commerce streams began with an 11th-grade batch of 50 students. With natural progression, these students advanced to the 12th grade in the 2009-10 academic year. That same year, 110 new students enrolled in the 11th grade across both streams, marking a significant increase in admissions.

As student enrollment continued to grow each year, it became evident that additional classrooms were urgently needed. Recognizing this need, President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh once again approached respected donor Hussainbhai Nensey and requested his support for the expansion of the Junior College Building.

Alhamdulillah! Hussainbhai Nensey responded with great generosity, reassuring, “Don’t worry, Aijazbhai. I will donate the required amount to fulfill all your legal educational needs.”

President Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh expressed his heartfelt gratitude for this tremendous financial support, which played a crucial role in expanding the institution and ensuring a better educational environment for future students.

After the completion of the construction of the Huzaifa Junior College Science and Commerce Building, Hussainbhai Nensey and his esteemed Nensey family visited the newly constructed premises of the college.

In June 2022, we launched a special coaching program for NEET, JEE, and foundational science courses aimed at students from economically weaker sections of society. The initiative was driven by the observation that only a few students from such backgrounds succeed in competitive exams like NEET and JEE due to a lack of strong guidance in science and mathematics. Consequently, these students often fail to secure admission into prestigious institutions such as MBBS (Medical) colleges or IITs (Engineering) and struggle to qualify for science Olympiads.

To address this issue, our society set a goal to enhance the learning environment by providing specialized coaching for NEET, JEE, and foundational science courses completely free of cost. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap in educational opportunities and empower students from underprivileged backgrounds to achieve their academic aspirations.

Under the Acharya Chanakya Kaushalya Vikas Kendra and Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana, Bassein Urdu Education Society’s Huzaifa Urdu School & College has received recognition from the Government of India, the Government of Maharashtra, and the Palghar District Collector. Alhamdulillah, our college is among the 1,000 institutions in Maharashtra to receive this prestigious recognition.
